Cat Furniture and Built-ins

Posted on May 4, 2011 by ari

Check out the Plus-Nyan house in Japan – this is the kind of thing I dream about, for our kitty friends. Sid and Zora and Snow don’t have many cat-specific hideouts and climbing opportunities in this apartment we’ve been living in, but I hope to change that when we move to our new place. In addition to an outdoor cat enclosure, I want to put in some fun cat doors and tunnels, and some high-up walkways. Here are some inspiring images I found online – read on for DIY and readymade cat furniture, shelves, perches, and steps. Wheeeeee.

Cat Perch made from an Ikea changing table (I’d make this a bit taller so the kitty can see out the window more easily…)

Saw a cool piece of wall art on tonight’s episode of My Cat from Hell (duff) on Animal Planet. It was a tree but behind the tree were steps to help the cat climb to a cut out near the ceiling. Anyone know where to buy it?

The tree from ‘my cat from hell’ came from the website http://www.ahiddenhollow.com

@Jamie, if you are thinking of the one that looks like a tree made of wicker or rattan than hids climbing shelves behind the wicker, that was an IKEA cat tree that they no longer carry.
