7 Documentaries I’ve been loving

Posted on November 20, 2011 by ari

These 7 films are all awesome! Found on Netflix.

  1. The Power of Forgiveness – very moving film featuring interviews with people from many different backgrounds, discussing forgiveness and how it can heal us and help the world.
  2. Mana: Beyond Belief – a great film with no narration, just excellent footage of people and the things we imbue with intense meaning.
  3. Flight from Death: Quest for Immortality – I thought this was going to be more about attempted technological escapes from death (cryogenics, etc.), but instead, it’s about “death anxiety as a possible root cause of many of our behaviors on a psychological, spiritual, and cultural level.” Useful and profound. I finished watching this film thinking that everyone should watch it.
  4. The Nature of Existence – Interviews with a very broad range of people from many different cultural and religious traditions, including scientists and physicists, about the nature of existence. (This is definitely something we should all be concerned with, I should think.)
  5. A Story of the Earth Liberation Front – Intense footage of the battles fought between the ELF and the corporate police-state. I’m a pacifist – and that’s why this film is important to me: it includes a segment on the Humboldt County police pepper spray incident.
  6. Fierce Light: When Spirit Meets Action – Moving and inspiring interviews with Julia Butterfly Hill and other activists.
  7. 2012: Time For Change – The human fascination with 2012, and all of the positive, transformative things happening in our world today.
