RENEWBOT – Coming to the streets of Ithaca

Posted on July 13, 2012 by shira

21 Boxes is a public art initiative organized by the City of Ithaca Public Arts Commission, Mural Street Art Committee and Ithacans for Public Art.

My design, the Renewbot, was selected to be painted on one of 21 electrical boxes around Ithaca! I’m waiting to find out which box is mine, but I’m hoping for something downtown near The Commons.

Here’s my description from the proposal:

The RENEWBOT is your friendly neighborhood renewable energy robot. Designed to start a conversation about where our electricity comes from, the RENEWBOT celebrates sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels including wind, solar and hydro power. The colors are bold and high-contrast and work with the electrical boxʼs naturally robotic form and silver color, incorporating some the boxʼs vents into the design.

Thanks to Ari who had the great idea of making it a robot!
