Tompkins County Workers’ Center – Redesigned to be easier to update. This project included Salsa (non-profit donor management software) integration.

We can help you understand how websites and social networking work and what services are right for you, and we can provide you with a sustainable and effective web presence. While some of our web projects involve only consultation, many others involve us redesigning a website or making a new website.

How we make websites

When we build a website, it’s built to last, as well as to meet your goals. We begin by talking with you about your site’s intended audience and the site you’ve been envisioning, and then we’ll show you a first design possibility. With your feedback, we refine that design until you’re happy with the way it looks and will function, and then we code it up.

Every site we make is:

  • Built on WordPress, a free, open source blogging and content management system that makes it easy to maintain your site using an online control panel. You can add new pages, blog, and more with just a few clicks. We can design a custom theme for you, or we can help you choose an existing one and adapt it to your needs.
  • Protected from comment spam and other attacks
  • Set to back up once a week, for safekeeping
  • Tested on a variety of computers and web browsers to ensure consistent appearance and usability

Case Studies

Not Working – A custom header and WordPress consulting and setup, for the book and upcoming documentary Not Working: People Talk About Losing a Job and Finding Their Way in Today’s Changing Economy by DW Gibson.

Unadulterated.info: A new graphic home page for Todd Lester, to give folks a one-stop shop for his RSS feeds and WordPress blogs. This was art directed by Todd, but the illustration style and handwriting is Ari’s.

Retribution Media – A clean little custom WordPress site with a custom home page, widgetized footer, and no blog.

Eve’s Cidery – This redesign made Eve’s Cidery’s new site a lot easier to update and expand than their last one, and gave them more control over the site’s appearance and tone. The art on the site was drawn by one of the cider-makers. The site features an interactive home page, a rotating header image, and integrated social bookmarking. The project also involved the production of videos featured throughout the site, and social networking and online outreach consultation.

This was a WordPress rescue. New Earth Living‘s new WordPress was partially designed and unlaunched. We spruced it up, recoded it, launched it, and helped them with social networking and outreach. We also produced an introductory video.

Kate Clinton – The first site we made for Kate Clinton worked out so well her online following exploded. Yay! This redesign freshened up Kate’s site and newsletter to match her latest stand-up tour, and incorporated tighter integration and maintenance of her social networking presence.

Ruthie and Connie – A WordPress website with a custom home page and a Flash slideshow showing the film’s festival awards.

freeDimensional and Creative Resistance Fund and artsrightsjustice.net – Two WordPress websites and a Ning custom social network, all interlinked. We provided consultation and planning assistance and then produced the sites based on designs made by Adham Bakry. We also produced numerous videos for fD in addition to other materials.

Hard Working Movies – we designed HWM’s logo and letterhead as well as their new WordPress website.

We built this site for Precision Builders Ithaca very efficiently by customizing an existing theme and utilizing a handy gallery plugin.
